Bad episode!
The message was clear from the first minute. Feminism! "Strong independent woman." This is a very terrible representation of historical gender dynamics. At the time this movie was set, each gender accepted and dutifully fulfilled their roles. And there were no contests about which gender becomes the hier. However, this episode mis-characterized historical men as terrible, incompetent, and misogynistic. While a little girl that should know nothing given her age is witty, understands politics and deserves all.
The hypocrisy is, while the episode was about how unfair it is to clamor for male hiers, the only quality it showed of the eventual female hier was her being a woman. Just like all male football and basketball teams are coached by men, it only made sense to have male commanders and kings at the time when might was right. Even the most ardent feminist would prefer men fight male attackers.
Also, while I'm black, it's unreasonable to have a black character feature prominently at a time where that would have been impossible.
I worry that this series will pollute young girls' minds about men and make young men feel unnecessarily guilty and sorry for what didn't happen.
