(Minor spoilers Episode 3-4, won’t affect long term viewers)
There are a lot of people undermining this show for the pace of the initial 3 episodes, most of who publicised their opinion before the release of the 4th episode.
The third episode is a tragic and impactful gateway to the world that is explored in episode 4. It brings a conclusion to the development of the initial cast and introduces various other characters/aspects to the series that helps us understand the insignificance of the initial cast. E.g. when the corporate security personnel suffer casualties and the imperial security bureau is introduced as a result. Overall, episode 3 was an emotional and impactful episode that acted as a gateway into the more significant world that episode 4 showcases.
As episode 4 commences, we’re introduced to various other elements; most importantly political drama and espionage. These elements are embedded into the series as the imperial security bureau is introduced and Mon Mothma’s involvement as a senator. This episode effectively unveils a wide array of new components to the story as
- Dede’s Meero builds suspicion around the heist that is about to be executed by Vel, Cassian and Luther.
- We delve into the imperial security bureau’s internal structure and their perception of the events
- Mon Mothma and Luthen meet to discuss rebellion
- Mon Mothma and her husband make reference to the various political figures that may be introduced to the series
Overall, this series is grittier and much more complex than the other Star Wars shows we’ve watched. If you’re interested in politics, drama, espionage and action, this show is definitely for you as they explore the various aspects of the star wars universe that I’ve been hoping they include.
