This movie was very watchable. It kept me engaged, which is not that easy to do unless I consider the movie excellent and this one I did not the reason for that and here I know I’m being picky is that I was not quite sure what the visitor from the future Was trying to stamp out, what lies, what poisonous ideas and how could she create a different future with such a short time in which to visit the past And eliminate those who are a danger? Were there other people like her working in the same way and different parts of the world because to do what she was supposed to do was certainly A Herculean task. regardless, I enjoyed it. to say one thing further about doing away with the “evil doers“ just might not be effective. If someone had come from the future and wiped out Hitler and all of his most evil henchman, something, perhaps not as grotesque as the holocaust but something along Hitler’s line of thinking would probably have happened. I think it was the zeitgeist of that time that allowed it. I am reminded of that so often when Trump speaks, spewing lies about people eating other peoples pets and lots of other nonsense. Every time I hear make America great again I think of Heil Hitler . Unfortunately, the zeitgeist of our times has allowed this narcissistic buffoon to be running for president again.

I would have to say that the phrase be true to yourself would be the ultimate message of this lovely little movie. There are no monsters in this movie, just ordinary people who sometimes do monsterous things. One terribly sad note that just underscores the serious message of the film. Muriel’s mother and the terrible price of abandoning yourself for someone else.

My only complaint about the movie seven is the cinematography. Now I hate saying that because I think cinematographers add so much to a Film and do not get the recognition they should and certainly not the salary. I loved every bit about that movie. I love the characters. I loved the sets, the acting was superb. Now there is no denying that the subject matter of the seven deadly sins and how the antagonist meted out punishment to those he found guilty of one or another of them is very dark, dark matter, indeed. But damn! The film itself was so dark. I could hardly see it half the time. Interestingly, I watched it on Netflix recently and it wasn’t that dark at all, must’ve been something wrong with the guy up in the projection box 1st time I saw it ! When I was in the theater, I simply believed that was the way it was supposed to be shown and never asked anyone about it. I would today.

Performance of the young actor, who played Elvis was electrifying. He did such a stellar job of conveying the excitement conveyed by the groundbreaking performance of Elvis Presley. At that time he was sensual he was sensitive he was knocked down drag out fabulous. He was everything to that movie and the only one that really mattered. You could have cut out everything, but the ones that featured Elvis in the movie would be just fine for me. Oh by the way, the little boy who played young Elvis at the prayer revival was great as he well if you never got to see Elvis don’t miss this movie. You will see him .

The manic, frantic character played by Adam Sandler, and all his machinations kept me on the edge of my seat. The character is a manipulator and a loser,he loses even when he wins yet, he tries so hard that I couldn’t help but want him to catch a big break. Actually, he catches quite a few, but on the next hill of the roller coaster, that is his crazy life he will lose these advantages. He doesn’t give up and in the end, everything falls into place for him. Even his smug brother-in-law, Eric Bogosian, seems impressed that he has pulled it off. This desperado has acquitted himself. (Seemingly) I recommend this movie highly.
