A wonderful anime that's colorful and fun but also gritty and sobering. The characters are all very real and so are their problems. The show does a great job at giving us a glimpse into the world of those stricken with poverty and trying to survive- which often involves crime. It tackles gang violence, murder, domestic violence, infidelity, trafficking, the foster care system, and the cycle of abuse.
Most (not all) of the characters are neither good nor bad, they're just trying to survive. The ending is bittersweet but very accurate to what would happen to somebody in Hatchin's situation with her upbringing.
Overall a very very good show, visually appealing with a unique cast of characters, and an amazing watch. I usually rewatch it every few years and never get tired of it.
