Currently on episode 4. When I first started watching this show I was upset, triggered, and wanted to jump through the TV. I kept thinking to myself “could not have been me”. And then I realized it’s not me and how my ancestors really went through the worse possible thing you can think of that can happen to a person because they identify as Black. It made me think of how racism still exist, and how people of color continue to fight to be in spaces where others feel we don’t belong. My new feelings are way different than they were when I first started watching the show. I’m proud to be Black and overly grateful to be in a time that my ancestors fought for. I have a whole new perspective on the blood, sweat, and tears that were shed for people of color to be in spaces where they are not harassed for wanting to own homes, become engineers, take care of their children, and be respected as human beings. I learned a lot from this show and will continue to watch it with an open mind.
