For those of you who havnt read the book, this movie just spread the cheeks of the book open and spat inside. The insult, the nerve the AUDACITY!! This should never have been made. It should be blacklisted. First of all, NO. They got all the details wrong, the movie started hallways through the book, the setting is completely off. BY THE WAY the main characters like Asher Jonas and Fiona are 11 WHY DO THEY LOOK LIKE THEYRE IN THEIR TWENTIES. Make it make sense. SECOND OF ALL THE LAYOUT OF THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY IS OFF, THE GIVER’S PLACE WAS INSIDE THE GODDAMN ANNEX NOT “At ThE eDgE” THERE WAS NO EDGE IN THE BOOK. BESIDES, THE MOVIE IS GOING SO QUICKLY AND FOR WHAT IT’S AN ABOMINATION, AN INSULT TO ALL MOVIES, ACTORS, AND DIRECTORS IN THE HISTORY OF CINEMA. I wish I could travel back in time and stop my eyes from seeing the homo-erotic tension between the giver and the receiver. Ever time he receives a memory it’s as if the boy orgasmed, WHY IS HE MAKING THOSE FACES. They put this on in front of 8th graders I don’t think they should be seeing that. (Nothing wrong with gays it’s just overly romantic) you know deep down in my heart I blame all the unlucky things that have ever existed on the existence of the movie. This movie is such a mistake. EVERYTHING IS WRONG!! You know every 2 minutes or so I have to shed a tear from the pure second hand embarrassment. The only reason they made Asher’s job in the movie a drone operator is so that they could get sick sky shots of the community, BUT JUST BECAUSE YOU GOT SOME NICE ANGLES DOESN’T MEAN ITS A GOOD MOVIE. If you can move past the fact that every single detail from the movie is completely opposite from the book, the movie still starts halfway through and DRAGSSS the plot just for the sake of it being long. Anyway, this movie is bad. The only reason this should ever be kept on any streaming service is so people could make fun of it.
