The first season is well done, but could easily have been condensed into 3 episodes if they cut out a lot of dialogue, I guess it adds to the atmosphere and captures how narrow-minded people would feel in a small town. David Tennant's character should never have been in the job in the first place because of his animosity towards the South and being a bit slow in capturing the killer.
