One of Will Smith's first big movie roles coming from TV stardom. Such a classic film. 2024 marks the 25th anniversary of the Wild Wild West. It's hard to believe that it was panned by critics & received a razzy. But what do critics know?! Its creative & humorous in its approach to history and the story weaved within it with Will Smith & Kevin Kline teaming up as unlikely partners to fight the villainous Dr. Loveless played wonderfully by Kenneth Branaugh set during the backdrop of the American Civil War era. Their chemistry shines and is delightful to watch. The costumes are very elaborate and elegant and certainly add flare to the film. And of course Salma Hayek certainly does not hurt the film by any stretch of the imagination being squeezed into those elegant period piece costumes. She looks stunning. 4 stars out of 5

I just saw Camino(2008), for the 1st time this year 2024(not to be confused with the other Camino of 2016). First, let me say that I am ALL about Cannes & Sundance style Films. There have been some excellent alternative films made through the decades. However, this IS one of the worst movies ever made. I don't find any entertainment value in watching a little girl continually suffering and being traumitized for the namesake of "love" or terminal illness. And the man who's her father is beyond annoying constantly filming her in her comatosed state. There is absolutely no artistic nor entertainment value whatsoever in it... fictional or not. A Catholic priest with nuns clapping when she dies is not my idea of good art nor Cinema regardless of how much irony or other double, juxtaposed point the director is trying to make about the church or love. This reminds me of the film 'What Dreams May Come'(2008), another awful trainwreck of a movie. I'm willing to bet that director Javier Fesser borrowed many of his ideas from the late, great Robin Williams's film. The ONLY positive thing about Camino(2008)..The acting is good, especially that of the suffering little girl played by Narea Canacho. And for that, I give it 1 star. I'm not giving her 1 star. Narea Canacho's acting is superb..she should be given multiple awards for her performance; especially for having to suffer through (as an actress)making a trainwreck of a movie. Otherwise, I would give it a zero. You must be a hardcore, die hard fan of surreal,bizarre movies with pointless twists, turns and plots to find any enjoyment from this disaster of a movie. 1 star out of 5

In a nutshell review.... Cute, lovable Clifford comes to the big screen. Set & filmed in and around NYC, it's a family movie that is made for everyone. It certainly has its fair share of laughs and family moments that will bring the family smiling & laughing together. 3.5 stars out of 5

Since Google has moved into three word descriptions of movies here's mine awful horrific disappointing. I'm surprised that this movie has received as many five-star reviews as it has. I can't believe that ewen McGregor even signed up for this film project. this is one of the worst movies of his career and it's probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen. When you hear the words senseless, useless violence and sensationalism for the simple sake of making money, this film comes to the top of the list!! especially with the scene of the five to six year old boy walking home from his baseball game being kidnapped and then being brutally stabbed and killed while idiot, supposed vampires are breathing his last vapors of breathe to help them live. OMG how ridiculous! it's incredibly stupid, ridiculous and nsulting to anyone who has 1/4 of a functioning brain. Have some useful creativity for artistic sakes! Ewan McGregor is a very good actor and has some amazing movies under his belt. This is NOT one of them. Don't think for 2 seconds that actors don't take movies or parts to pad their already padded bank accounts. this is clearly one of those movies. Weak plot combined with a weak script. The Shining is an EXCELLENT MOVIE! This isn't and should never be associated with the original film! Should have received raspberry awards out the ying yang. 1 star out of 5

In a nutshell, A light and breezy rom-com about a British woman going through her own marital midlife crisis finds herself in Los Angeles as she is obsessed with meeting George Clooney. if you like WE/lifetime movies this will be right up your alley. the film certainly has its cute and funny moments, like the pumpkin scene & especially the "threesum" scene😝. Rex Lee's metrosexual, gay-esque,Asian guy character and performance is the only breathe of fresh air and holds the film together(henceforth the extra half a star in my rating otherwise it would be a two star film without his performance.) The film certainly draws it's inspiration from Sex & The City albeit a much more tuned down PG version. Definitely a chick flick movie. 2.5 stars out of 5

What happens when when a wife has the opportunity to get back together with her ex bf and her husband has the opportunity to be with an attractive co worker? That's the theme at play here. Last Night softly touches on marriage infidelity and all of the "what ifs" of an extra marital affair that happen when being with someone else, even if only for an evening and their potentential ramifications. It revolves around four central characters played by Keira Knightley, Sam Worthington, Eva Mendes & Patrick Dempsey. The film doesn't slam the story of a married couples' infidelity in your face like other films have, i.e. & Unfaithful, with unabashed anger & lurid sex scenes. Yet it takes a much softer approach through the use of dialogue and feeling, especially the characters' guilt. This may make for a "boring" film for some. I think it allows for the viewer to see what each character is feeling through the use of cinematic dialogue which is a much rarer thing these days in Hollywood. The ending is interesting. I like how Worthington' s character sees his wifes sexy high heels that she never wears on the living room floor as he is hugging her and telling her how much he loves her, not knowing what has transpired buy yet realizes something isn't quite right. I would have liked that scene better if Knightley had said something like " I love you too. Let's talk". 3.5 stars out of 5

A film very well done. I've seen it several times. It's an excellent film on morality and how Islamic governments want to maintain very strict control over people's rights sadly. As a westerner we take for granted our liberty and freedom in making a film like this. Islam is a dangerous faction that wants to flex its moral mind control over everyone. I have an Iranian friend who has still never seen Persepolis and chooses not to view it for some reason. But so many of her own stories that she's told me are in the movie, especially the ones about secret parties in people's homes and having to be careful about wearing a hijab.. I think the black and white format adds to the story in a powerful yet subtle way by unconsciously conveying the monotony and bleakness of the Conservative Iranian regime. It's ironic that the Iranian Regime was offended even though the film was animated. In an artistic juxtaposition, I think that she chose to use an animated black and white format to try and consciously lessen the film's impact on the Uber conscious Iranian regime that she knew would be watching it. Plus it's much more dangerous to use real actors that could be arrested, jailed and possibly even executed in a real human production. I would love to ask her. Either way, the film is enjoyable and certainly gets its point across... Life under the ultra conservative Iranian regime was& is harsh! My Persian friend left Iran as did many of her friends and family so the film speaks for itself as a reminder of just how bad life can be there if you're an open minded free thinker. It still blows my mind how hard the Iranian regime pushed back against this film, to the point that they were able to influence Thailand from pulling it out of their own Thai film festival back when it was released. 4.5 stars out of 5

Two words breezy airheaded cult classic. Well that's actually four words but vibes is what it is. it's a light airheaded bit of a romp. It has Cyndi lauper in it for god sakes. this is certainly an under the radar cult classic by far. but it's enjoyable for what it is. Some of the lines make you laugh + the combination of the cinematic backdrop of Ecuador and Andean music and culture make it fun some 35 years later(especially if you've traveled there). this debuted way back in 1988. I never saw it even though I was well alive back in that far distant year. but Jeff goldblum and Cyndi lauper anchor and act well. the cinematography is actually good having been filmed in Ecuador. if you're looking for deeply wound complex characters as those found in pride and prejudice and Apocalypse Now, etc. , then no it's not that by any stretch of the imagination. But it's an enjoyable cult classic of a movie for what it is. 3 stars out of five.

I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much when I sat down to watch Red Rocket. But I was pleasantly surprised as it weaved it's way down the slimy road in this Texas Trash smitten slice of Americana. Entertaining and refreshingly different. The cinematography is great. I love the constant scenes of Simon Rex on his bicycle. This is certainly Cannes/Sundance Film festival material at it's artistic best. Simon Rex nails his character with shining brilliance. Suzanna Son & Bree Elrod certainly put their imprint on the film too. It's very good acting and directing.. 1 of my favorite lines is when Strawberry sarcastically says to Simon Rex, " So you're a big time Hollywood director riding around in a bicycle without a car?" It's so funny as she's just a 17 year old girl who drives a pick up truck (albeit her mom's). The sarcasm & irony make for great writing in scenes like this. It just goes to show what filmmaking can accomplish without big name stars and over-the-top explosions and overblown special effects. It ranks up there with films like Little Miss Sunshine & Leaving Las Vegas in it's artistic creativity. It's not necessarily a film that all will enjoy as it delves into themes of sexuality, drug use, violence & crime. But these are real things that make headlines on the nightly news. I couldn't help but think of John Cougar Mellencamp's Little Pink Houses meets Lolita in the final scene. 4 stars out of 5.

1 of Paul Walkers last films. He did an amazing job portraying a father who stays behind to try and save his newborn daughters life after everyone has fled a New Orleans hospital during Hurricane Katrina. This is about as true to life a story, albeit fictional, as one can get without having actually lived through hurricane Katrina. I remember Katrina and its horrific aftermath very well. It's sad that many people actually did die in nursing homes/hospices due to being abandoned by those who were in charge. And then of course there really WERE looters out and about. It was disturbing to say it mildly. But back to the film. Paul Walkers performance literally transports the viewer to a 1st person real life what if/what would you do scenario. The film isn't complex. The script is simple yet stunning. Its basic, bare bones cinema at it's best. There are no high tech, unnecessary over the top special effects that Hollywood relies so much on to trick and entice people into go seeing bland boring special effects laden films. It's just Paul Walker, his newborn daughter and the viewer. Thats it. And that's what makes this such a great movie. You WILL be on the edge of your seat at times without the ridiculously huge, big bang explosions. My only small complaint, I would have enjoyed a bit more of a detailed ending. But again, its a simple film with a simple theme of survival. Well worth seeing again 10 years after its initial release back in 2013. Brings back many memories of that time, including how the George Bush led US government failed a city in it most critical hours of need. A fantastically acted fictional story put inside a tragic, non fictional event. Thank you Paul Walker for an excellent film. I would have loved to have had the opportunity to shake your hand and say thank you for making such a soulful, wonderful film. May you always RIP brother🙏🇺🇸 4 stars out of 5
