I just saw Camino(2008), for the 1st time this year 2024(not to be confused with the other Camino of 2016). First, let me say that I am ALL about Cannes & Sundance style Films. There have been some excellent alternative films made through the decades. However, this IS one of the worst movies ever made. I don't find any entertainment value in watching a little girl continually suffering and being traumitized for the namesake of "love" or terminal illness. And the man who's her father is beyond annoying constantly filming her in her comatosed state. There is absolutely no artistic nor entertainment value whatsoever in it... fictional or not. A Catholic priest with nuns clapping when she dies is not my idea of good art nor Cinema regardless of how much irony or other double, juxtaposed point the director is trying to make about the church or love. This reminds me of the film 'What Dreams May Come'(2008), another awful trainwreck of a movie. I'm willing to bet that director Javier Fesser borrowed many of his ideas from the late, great Robin Williams's film.
The ONLY positive thing about Camino(2008)..The acting is good, especially that of the suffering little girl played by Narea Canacho. And for that, I give it 1 star. I'm not giving her 1 star. Narea Canacho's acting is superb..she should be given multiple awards for her performance; especially for having to suffer through (as an actress)making a trainwreck of a movie. Otherwise, I would give it a zero. You must be a hardcore, die hard fan of surreal, bizarre movies with pointless twists, turns and plots to find any enjoyment from this disaster of a movie.
