This is so far the most ambitious cooking show ever produced! I can't tell how much budget they put into this to pull this off. Production wise, the casting, the concept is out of this world. Unlike any other cooking battle that full of trash talkings, contestants in this show are very respectful to each other despite of too much pressure and hardship of challenge. No dramas or crying babies which is very annoying like the western. Koreans show is so unpredictable they are really good in suspense and you can't help but to want more. Very addictive and you'll never guess really what's gonna happen next.
The tofu challenge is so intense that it had me a headache the next day haha. Simply because I didn't have enough sleep just to finish all the episodes. Only Korean series can do this ever! The elimination round could have done more justice to everyone. In my opinion the black spoon winner I doubted if he can make it to the tofu challenge as it was a hell hard round. That Life dish thing challenge is just so unfair, they could have think of something else or completely remove it. He was more of exempted than totally competing and it wasn't the main goal of this cooking show in the first place. I wish I could have also see him on that tofu round to see his full potential. He just got really lucky.
Though in my oipinion it should be Edward Lee to win the title, I don't know but I just have this feelings that since the 2 final dishes were a closed fight, the judges probably decided to go with the other one since Edward Lee is based in the US. They probably don't want to declare the best chef in Korea that is American which is totally unfair. Edward Lee is more creative, a problem solver and he never runs out of idea that will really shock you in the end, he never made identical dishes, that tofu challenge is a true testament of his experience overall and his final dish is so original, no one has ever think of before that is possible to produce and he is Korean too by blood. So in the end I felt like there was a bias on how it was judged on the final round.
