I feel that one’s review of this movie is truly one’s perspective about Marylin. Some want to see her as this iconic heroine of 50’s-60’s and they surely can’t accept the most vulnerable and honest self of Marylin. Maybe she went through similar emotions as portrayed in the movie or maybe the scenes were just exaggerated, no one truly knows. I was still intrigued and captivated by the storytelling, cinematography. Really enjoyed Ana on the screen and she did a pretty convincing job as compared to what I’ve seen and observed about MM on screen.
The intention was to show a mirror about that society when actresses would go through extreme suppression, misogyny, objectivity and just be nothing more than a glam doll.
Much later than that era, times changed which transcended into a so called woke generation which we witness today who may criticize this movie for what it is.
Women have always been at the receiving end in most of our past generations, it’s now when times are evolving and self awareness is gratified the most. We must just take this movie as a director’s portrayal and perspective about MM basis the true incidents, maybe, well no one knows.
