Great read! I read in 2012. Still comparing it to other books. Best fiction since Donna Tartt’s , Secret History! Best review quote from The Guardian(UK). “Verghese’s achievement is to make the reader feel there really is something at stake——birth, love, death,war, loyalty….You conserve pages because you don’t want the book to end.” Looking forward to reading The Covenant of Water!
