This whole movie is seemingly an attempt from the director (M. Night Shyamalan) to promote a Pop career for his adult daughter.
The first half of the movie is predominantly set at a concert, but at one point we sit through two separate songs without any advancement of the plot whatsoever.
The film is littered with really bizarre illogical choices being made by all of the characters, not least how willing the FBI are to allow a Pop star to insert herself into an ongoing investigation.
Josh Hartnett does admittedly put in a pretty good performance and it's unfair to criticize his performance due to the poor writing, but that is the only positive I can draw from this experience.
You may find yourself in the same boat as me, recalling that the trailer looked really promising but don't waste your time.
