I randomly found this novel while I was on vacation in a forgotten drawer. It was covered in a patchy layer of dust. I wiped it down and spent ALL day reading it.
I finished it the day I started reading it and found that I never willingly put it down once until I was done. In my opinion, it was a GREAT book. There was character development, strong connection, survival, etc.
Racism is a sensitive topic and I think this book did a great job addressing it..aside from some of the things Philip thought in the beginning, I absolutely loved his character development.
It wasn’t boring at all to me, it was short, bittersweet, heartwarming and a little humorous at times. I think the ending was satisfactory & I loved Timothy & the cat so much as characters.
Honestly the only criticism I have for this book is the cover that I was stuck with..where Timothy was illustrated with no pigment except black and GREEN. Fortunately, this isn’t a problem for most as there are many more beautiful covers for this book out there. (The copy I have was given to my brother six years ago by his school.)
I’m glad I found this book but I’m going to end this review here & just ask you to please read it if you haven’t already. 🫶 I hope you’ll love it as much as I do!
