Superb film sparkling with originality that explores issues of emotional isolation and the human need to love and feel loved. The acting is immense with Paul Giamatti demonstrating his considerable ability to represent vulnerability and the passive/aggressive simultaneously. Excellent writing and a crackingly good screenplay combine with the above to produce a film that represents the human condition. A must see.

The best Doctor of the modern was undoubtedly Christopher Ecclestone. He defined the modern era with an unrivalled charisma and vulnerability. After a difficult start trying to establish her Doctor against the odds Jodie Whittaker is now succeeding. Revolution of the Daleks allowed her to flesh out the personality of our favourite Time Lord to a point of previously otherwise unattained complexity and interest. The plot was an enjoyable but thin yarn that was easy to follow, perhaps too easy, but much preferable to Stephen Moffet's over elaborate and tedious machinations. Yaz is now developing nicely too.

Although well acted and sumptuous to look at this a poorly written. The plot lines are so thin and lack any emotional depth. The film is to cash in on it's fan base, especially in the US, and will please devotees. For the rest of us it's an inane, inconsequential piece that says nothing new or worth repeating. Is Mr Fellowed capable of anything better?

After a confusing start, a mish mash of this and that of events and difficult to follow time frames, the film finally takes off into an absorbing study of assorted themes. The brilliance of science; the morality of bombing and mind numbing destruction, the impact on delicate relationships as well as how masculine vanity causes terrible damage and injustice are all explored brilliantly. Cillian Murphy is born to the role and captures both the certainty of genius and the vulnerability of Oppenheimer's humanity perfectly.
