It kind of reminds me of when you go to the theme park and you see something like The Indiana Jones spectacular, knowing full well you aren’t seeing the real Harrison Ford, but sort of a second-hand version …
Or it reminds me of when I watched a movie as a kid, fell in love, and would make up random nonsensical stories using the movie action toys I begged my mom to buy at KB Toys.
Bottom line, it’s the meme. You ordered Willow on Wish and got a knock off.
Willow the movie is a classic. I wanted to love this show and was excited to see original actors back. As others have mentioned though, the writing is terribly lazy on all levels. I’m on episode 5 and it feels more like a strange fantasy version of a matchmaking show where everyone has to be paired up even though they have no real chemistry or basis for romance.
It definitely felt like Disney had to make sure they ticked the various token representative boxes, and then assign them an obvious trope to fall into.
I could go into each area of disappointment but others have covered it well. I don’t have faith in Disney imagination these days. It seems like all they do is buy up popular intellectual property and then put a super vanilla sanitized lens over it to keep the cash cow going, yank on fan loyalty and ultimately fail to deliver.
