This is a masterful depiction of Texas in the post civil war era. It brings in elements of Native American and Texas immigrant cultures. As a student of both Native American history and Texas history, I found the movie to be spot on and informative for the viewer. This is a must see film and will likely win several Academy awards. Hanks is masterful himself and brings out the best from the rest of the cast. Do not mis this iconic western film!!!!!
