I saw some reviews that looked like this would be good so I tell my husband, "Don't worry. . .the reviews. . " YIKES do I regret that. This was a terrible movie. Probably the worst movie I've seen in decades. Up til now, we'd joke about the movie Flesh and Bone. . .we watched it and watched it waiting for something of significance to happen and then in the end, nothing happened. So boring and lack luster. . .but this movie! YIKES. I love the actor that plays the lead though. . .he was awesome in Lion and I loved seeing him again but there were scenes meant to be real and deep like him riding his horse to his first stop that seemed to last forever. . .felt like they were going for real time. Then he is waiting for the Knight in one scene. . .and waiting and waiting and waiting. Some of these scenes felt waaay too long and boring. Then there was all this witchcraft stuff in it. Opened up with some sort of Evil fiery spell and had lots of evil/dark magic in it - not like Sabrina the teenage witch but different and at one point for no reason, there were these giant half man half women naked spirits or monsters that he comes across, one is holding a baby . .there is no purpose for them other than adding more creepy stuff to the story. And we get to see his sperm at one point. . .so that was a perk. :( In the middle of the movie we are like, "This is so bad" Husband "Yeah - maybe we should go get dinner" Me - waiting for it to redeem itself . . yet it never did. I don't get all this "Beautiful movie" and all the good reviews. We really couldn't have hated it any more than we did. What a waste of time. If this movie wins an award, I will never watch any award shows again. Surely, America has better taste than this movie.

This movie came out at a time where we'd seen almost everything and didn't have any interest in the big movie It 2 - We didn't really know what to expect but it was pretty good. The lead actor was pretty great. We both really liked him. He was a strong, classy, hard working cop who loves his family and has integrity. The young actress who plays his niece is great as well. Although it feels like you know who the bad guy is immediately, we just laughed at that. The end feels a bit abrupt but other than that, it was an enjoyable way to spend the evening.
