It's a dank, dark, gritty and joyless adaptation (definitely not an "original take"), with an excellent cast whose performances almost manage to elevate the script from the gloom in which it is mired. In short, it is watchable thanks to the performances of Pearce, Graham, Robinson, Serkis, et al, but it comes down to how much of this morbid phantasm one is willing to watch.
