An absolute diamond in the rough and what felt like a pulse in the cinematic foray that has been Disney Star Wars. I had hoped for it to be a sign of recovery after the cascade of poorly written movies and tv shows in the property, but it may have been a last gasp of a dying IP if Mandalorian S3 and Ashoka S1 have been an indication of the direction Star Wars continues to unerringly travel.
But enough of that morose reality.
Andor! Great and thought provoking characters! Riveting action scenes! A competent Empire, not constrained by plot armour or bumbling stupidity.
A refreshing and unexpectedly welcome lack of Jedi, instead Andor chooses to focus more on everyday individuals, and in turn, helps make the vast galaxy of Star Wars *feel* vast again. This is a world where the mere mention of the Empire brings fear, where a single Tie Fighter feels like a threat, rather than stage dressing for a prolonged and ineffectual chase/action sequence.
Of everything Disney Star Wars has produced, in my eyes Andor and Rogue One are at the current height of their works. Andor through sheer statistical aberration and Rogue One through its final 3rd arc.
