A good read. A bit flowery with the details but a solid story nonetheless. I read it most of the way through in one session.
I recommend this book to anyone that loves a circus story.
Freak shows are a horrible way to make a buck and the owner of the circus is as big a narcissist as you would expect. He uses every means to keep himself in the limelight.
Contrarily, the performers are portrayed as caring, compassionate individuals who probably had few options for earning a living or finding a life partner in Victorian England.
