Horrible movie and ridley scotts worst. Seems woke hollywood got to him and his classic action expertise was nowhere to be found. The fight scenes were rushed through and had no cadence. It looked like a rhian johnson film. If i wanted to watch a weird love story id have rented the notebook. This movie is almost a 1 too love it. Ridley needs to go back to his gladiator and black hawk down days; real stories and amazing action. This was discombobulated from the beginning. Also I thought napoleon had an all or nothing conquest appetite not a I want peace and to lay in josephines arms. Also where was his rivalry with the austrians no mention.
He was one of the greatest military planners in history and that was non-existent in this film. He made HIS entite family kings of other countries. He chastised his generals who failed. Finally they didnt even show his first failure in russia they just showed him signing his appeasement contract with the world leaders. Historically inaccurate and lame to be honest. Phoenix is a great actor but seemed lost in finding napoleon i blame scott and his story line. RT even has this at 50%now despite being the woke "art piece" they give oscars too. Even they wanted more clearly. Movie was just too complex for ridley. He focused on the wrong historical components. When he did try and get into the political aspect or the war elements it was confusing and just didnt show the complete control and fear he had instilled in his enemies and around the world. Ill wait for spielberg to clean this up.
