Classy, beautifully written and performed. An example to current film-makers who could lean from Foyle's War how to pace a story, how to project a time period, and how to present diction that is clear and understood. No faults whatsoever; do watch an episode if you have not yet done so.

This is actually quite a poor film, rescued by the quality of its lead actors. Plot holes galore, absurd action sequences with dozens of dead enemy soldiers and not a scratch (bar one) on our heroes, explosions galore when none was justified. But a decent story, good entertainment, and worth watching.

A harrowing film. Whatever your politics or view of immigration this movie is well made and largely true to life, with believable characters and situations. For me it is too emotional and aiming towards a perfect ending; the locals are (virtually all) depicted as violent half-wits and the immigrants as having perfect family values, and desperate to adopt Western culture. Dream on! There is clearly a deliberate message from the writer and Director, and it barely touches on some of the wider issues. I suspect, for example, that the film-makers would apply the same emotive arguments about economic migrants arriving in small boats, but the arguments are so different. Genuine asylum versus financial benefit. Worth watching though.

Promoted as a drama/comedy it is neither. No drama, no comedy. Decent performances but a very weak effort, overall. In my view it's not worth watching.

Classy film with an interesting storyline. A 'must-watch' in my household as my wife is mesmerised by Paul Newman! Good performances from the entire case.

Not a patch on the earlier 'Godfather' films. Messy, confused, and poor diction throughout. Worth watching but don't expect too much.

Charming and feel-good; well paced and beautifully performed by the cream of the crop. Well worth watching.

'Classic' is an overused word, but never more appropriate. If a better film has been made in the past fifty years I've yet to see it. Well-paced, full of suspense, great script and fabulous performances. It's just possible that you'll not enjoy this movie if the genre is not for you, but otherwise the film surpasses all its imitators.

Nicely paced and good cinema. I'm not a fan of Hitchcock but this is a well-constructed film and worth watching. Very much of its time, presumably made in one magnificent studio.

In my view this is the only decent film made by Hitchcock, perhaps with the addition of 'Rear Window'. It's taut and full of suspense, but ruined by the ludicrous ten-minute diatribe by the psychiatrist at the end, completely unnecessary. Otherwise well worth watching.
