Too much flashbacks, hallucinations, an unrealistic character (Liv) and the smallest attention to details were so overlooked for a survival movie.
The movie is based on Liv's lone survival in the forest after a private plan she was on crashes at the bottom of the ocean; no shelter, no source of necessities, only berries, a bottle of water and a hungry grizzly bear.
If you like the Incredible Hulk type movies, grab yourself a bag of microwave popcorn (I prefer Orville Redenbacher) and a soda and enjoy. On the other hand, if you hate bored, unrealistic movies with 95% flashbacks, grab your favorite fluffy pillow, a spot on the sofa and get ready to fall asleep.
For someone whose stranded alone in the forest, pregnant with a hungry grizzly bear you would think, "find shelter" or some source of protection from the bear, the heat.. This super hero character dives at the bottom of the ocean to search the plane, remain under water, holding her breath searching for a radio, but retrieves 2 duffer bags even gets her foot stuck in some rope, all the while holding her breath the entire time, how realistic is that? She falls at least 12 feet into a cave onto her back where a huge rock falls on top of her which she chips away just enough to free herself and walks away with no broken bones, how realistic is that? Then she falls at least 20 feet from the cave through trees, breaking branches alone the way and lands on her back, limps away with no broken bones, how realistic is that?
The producer, writer, who ever, missed the smallest attention to details, like her cloths being ripped after falling into the cave and trees. Five days, no food or water a character should appear frail. One scene you see her face dirty, bloody and bruised after standing up from the fall, next shot you see no dirt, no bruises, not a sign of blood on her face. And what happen to the hungry grizzly bear? I guess that attention to details was also overlooked as well.
Loved the beautiful scenery in the movie. The flashbacks were a bit too much to the point the movie became boring. Nothing was realistic about the character or survival, it was more of a fairytale than about a true survivalist.
Spoiler Ending. Hmm, expect it to be unrealistic.....
