Indika’s trailer tells you what it isn’t, but I’ll try to say what it is; A surreal, nightmarish, and absolutely beautiful take on philosophy, religion, and the human psyche.
While it’s a short experience, it will leave you thinking about it far longer than the time spent playing. Paired with the aforementioned qualities, Indika offers stunning visuals, both graphically and with a keen focus on cinematography, lighting, and composition.
Its gameplay is very minimal, and benefits for it. “Walking-sim” and “puzzle-platformer” would be the labels that most closely fit it, but experiencing its story is the point, not the amount of player agency one has.
The only “issues” I came across were a slightly unoptimized framerate, and a lack of photomode available for console. If those are my biggest grievances, though, I’d call that an excellent game.
