Probably the best single book I have read on how how US Protestantism, particularly its so-called evangelical and Pentecostal varieties, has gone off the rails by means of utter politicization by racist and neo-confederate groups. Rather like German Christians in the 1940s, US Protestants have lost the Gospel message.

Maya’s confession is problematic given her convincing appearance of grief and lack of focus on linking the murder of her sister to the nefarious activities of her husband’s family. Great ending though.

It just doesn’t hang together very well as a plot and the script is unbelievably glib and shallow.
