everything is so empty and lifeless, definitely not what you should expect from a triple A game from a company this large. every city is dull and lifeless with cookie cutter, low quality buildings and not much to interact with save for the hundreds of food shops that sell the same stuff.
extremely weak customization options, it’s always 1 step forward and 10 steps back with gamefreak so it really shouldn’t be a surprise, and yet somehow it still is. you’re locked to 4 horrendous uniform options and that’s it, that’s all you get aside from extremely ugly accessories you can use to make your awful uniform even worse.
all of that aside, let’s touch on the worst offender: the absolutely atrocious graphics and abysmal rendering distance. arceus was fantastic with good graphics, great render distance and the same “open” overworld concept, it worked well and looked fine… so why did we take 10 steps back for scarlet and violet? the quality is so low that you have to walk directly up to every single pokémon to figure out what it is, forget trying to shiny check anything not within 2 steps of you because anything even slightly further out is so blurry and grainy it’s impossible to tell what it’s supposed to be, let alone if it’s colour is slightly different. listen, open world is not your thing, we gathered that, arceus did a fine job of having open world zones you had to load into and it worked! stick to what you know works.
