When I saw they made an Anime series about Yasuke I thought “Super awesome!” But I can’t get past the weird addition of mecha. Especially since it’s based on a real historical figure. Also not sure the story development really nails the legend of Yasuke.

Loved it! I am particularly happy with the proper patois spoken throughout. I’ve seen a lot of comments about how “lenient” the whites are in this series and I want to respond by saying that this a fictional story - and the culture / history of Jamaican slave life is not 100% the same as you would find studying how this all played out day to day in the United States. Don’t compare them. The one issue is that Tamara Lawrence is clearly and absolutely not biracial. Her acting is spot on but it was kind of hard to see past that. It was almost irritating at times. Other than that, the series was a great watch. Highly recommend!
