Gerald Carson

I came across a re-run of this about a year ago on BBC 4. I last remembered the original series in the late seventies and early eighties........ it simply did not appeal to me then. However it now has a sudden appeal to me, a world that had indeed long vanished even by the start of the series in the 1950's with the advent of variety, radio,TV and more recently the computer in an era of political correctness, all wonderfully recreated by the BBC, compered over by the inimitable Leonard Sachs. Alas he and many of the stars even from this series have gone now, but it has served to keep the spirit of music hall alive. I sincerely hope the BBC do not wipe the series from their records as it is no longer on iplayer
