Don't understand the negative reviews here because the acting, script, and production values were all superior to most BBC and ITV programs. I do think the direction could have been better especially in the opening action sequences with the impressive flood water elements and in maintaining the suspense aspects of the script. The producer's definitely need a better director for Season 2, if that happens. However, it seems many of the reviewers here are expressing a dislike for the show which stems from a political POV and not an artistic one. Sophie Rundle gives an outstanding performance throughout with nuance, humor and great skill especially in the final two episodes. The rest of the cast is top notch and they all create interesting, believable relationships and characters. Sorry if some of the bad guys are not to your liking, i.e., white males although one of the villains was a black woman or that a pregnant woman can remain brave and vital even in her 7th month!! GIVE this series a WATCH--you won't be disappointed.
