This movie was simply a series of things happening randomly until the end. There was no explanation as to why the teens were on the bus in the first place. The film brought in a serial tongue-eater (extremely random) to hold the bus hostage and help the storyline along, but the film would've progressed just the same without this contrived tension because they were headed toward the tunnel anyway. He was, however, the best actor in this film. When the students got their courage together and made the lighting rig, you still had no idea what was happening. It seemed like the process went according to plan, but the random things happening implied it didn't. In the end, they torched the monster and there's no reason they couldn't have done that in the first place instead of running around in a dark maze of tunnels and two of them almost being eaten. Because of the randomness of the movie, you didn't get attached to the characters because they remained basic tropes with no changes from the experience which made the monologue at the end feel cheap and pointless. The only reason it has 2 stars is because the action was still exciting even when I had no idea what was going on.
