Just finished the remastered version on the Switch. Since I had played the game in the early 2000s, I was half afraid I'd get bored to play for nostalgia but boy I was mistaken. It's much better as I can appreciate the serious themes. The game and its story is timeless--very much at the top tier of RPGs. Even with a simple turn based system, gameplay is exciting as there are multiple areas the player can be strategic in and the difficulty of enemies is paced well throughout the story. Soundtrack and voice acting is impeccable. Plus complex yet loveable characters and a deep story (with very real themes), I was bawling by the end. Whether from nostalgia or not, everyone should put this in their must play games list.
