Good sequel to the original. This movie seems much darker than the original. Would have given it 5 stars but disappointed they killed off the Catherine Ohara character. She always stood out in the first one and did as well in this with Ryder. Also the first thing I've seen with Ortega. From the hype of her talents, I was expecting her to be amazing, but for me she was just there. And still don't get the hype. It was Ohara, Keaton, Ryder delivered exceptionally well and blew down the house as always. I get why they didnt have Jones return, but they should have had Jones play his old role since his character was in much of the movie anyway. They probably paid him anyway for his likeness. Oh and that CGI airplane bit was odd, they should have just had it be in the real world instead of animated. Good movie, will rewatch.

Just rewatched the second film for the second time. Still disappointed. The beginning turns very slow, when all we want to see is the core cast. There's only about 45 minutes worth of pleasure in this film which includes Bette, Kathy, and Sarah.... the rest of it can be thrown away. From overacting, to odd characters I felt like watching a Disney Channel kiddie movie. It doesn't have the charm the first one had and the storyline isn't that well put together either.

The movie is good for any Lucille Ball fan. I wasn't convinced with Javier in the role of Desi as he is too old for the part. The plot at times feels disjointed as they move from Bob and Madelyn in their later years telling stories of yesteryear to the I Love Lucy days to pre I Love Lucy. The story was hard to follow as if someone mixed up on where to be placing scenes or having many ADHD moments. The events depicted in one week were actually spread out over the entire series length and the apartment wasn't the right setting for the early I Love Lucy episodes. The actors who portrayed Vivian Vance and Bill Frawley did excellent. Nicole Kidman channelled her inner Lucille Ball effectively. For some reason they made Madelyn Pugh Davis and Bob Carroll Jr. bicker alot, whereas in real life they deeply respected each other. If you aren't a big Lucille Ball fan the story may be hard to follow, heck Ive read autobiographies and this movie seemed to bring out mostly the dramatic and random bits. Nicole Kidman did her role effectively. Home was the keyword Lucille Ball used many times and was used throughout the plot. Without spoiling the end, it seemed that the vision was to end on a low note, in actuality this is not where the Lucy and Desi relationship ended. I got the sense they wanted the audience to believe it was over when it indeed wasn't and she came back with Desi to do The Lucy Show and take over the studio. I was expecting the end credits to roll footage of Lucille Ball talking about some of the moments depicted here in the movie. Nope -- bad choice there. It wasn't a bad movie, but felt the story could have been done more effectively and organized in a more flowing way. It's a definitely a see, but wouldn't rewatch the movie. Perhaps a sequel could be played out... There's more of Lucille Ball to be told.
