Quality has gone down since the 11th Doctor, the whole character has been rewritten due to gender politics and social justice. Just because the Doctor had always been male, they had to change it because the "Patriarchy". All the generations that have loved the Classic Who and The New Who now have to deal with that politics have taken a dump on their childhoods. Unfortunately this has Jody in a tough place because I could have seen her go far. The series needs a HUGE reboot or Regeneration because the writing has been so poor.
