Other spy shows pretend to be what this show is. Outstanding. The writing is impeccable, nuanced, and weirdly rhythmic. The pacing is deliberate, without straining one’s patience. Each character has an arc made believable by superb performances across the board. Most importantly, the moments of lightness and humor are not forced nor sophomoric in nature. The viewer is not insulted with “you get it?” explanations. Patriot is barbecue sauce on fingertips. Don’t use a napkin for this delicious meal.
