I could only sit through half of it. After the characters were introduced, and the context set I found that I didn't care about them at all. Also, how many mechanical bull riding scenes can you watch? The characters have some charm, and many of the actors have undeniable charisma. But they are not compelling to watch and the story is uninvolving because it is so shallow and by the numbers. I am not a country music fan, but I found that I liked a lot of the music in the film.
No doubt, this is due for a reboot. With "Urban Cowboy" now being a bunch of "diverse" inner-city thugs who are avid Lil Nas X fans. (that is intended as a joke, but I wouldn't bet against it)
