Simply a brilliant potrayal of a deeply disturbed, damaged individual craving acceptance from a society he despises...the performance given by Joachim Phoenix is stunning and palpable set in a classic rainy dim lit Gotham City which enhanced the deep sadness and madness of the mind of a kind misunderstood clown....don't expect any light moments, it is an intense and dark tale which leaves you thinking of those less fortunate and how society is somewhat immune or perhaps dismissive of mental health issues.....10 out of 10 for me but go see it and make up your own mind .
