I have been waiting for a Rajini movie that is on par with our well known and loved movies like Baasha, Padayappa etc. Having had a string of modernised Rajini movies which has a storyline with a lot of fighting but no substance, I can finally say this movie brought the warmth feeling that I resonated with when I think of Rajini movies.
Yes it's cliche, but that's what we love about Rajini movies. Yes, the love for his sister is predictable and he has dialogues that has a moral behind it. But that's what made him famous with everyone including children. The movies like the robotic, sci-fi and endless meaningless fighting type of movies in the last 5 or 6 movies just wasn't ones that people remember him by.
This is a movie that can be watched again and again because it is cheesy. I got excited as he took revenge for his sister, and protected her. The way he did it was smart, doable if you have the courage and strength.
People should watch this with the intention to expect the well known theatrics, this way you will love it the same way I did.
Hats of to the director for making a movie that quenched fans hunger for a typical Rajini movie, with no unnecessary modern twist. Also, thank you for making the fight scenes clean with no "not doing the job well" so that the villains come back to life and take revenge type of fights.
All in all a great family movie.
