A good watch. Very interesting and kept me engaged. The truth and twist in the story was definitely quite mind boggling, not at all what I was expecting this to be about. I know nothing about the Mormon community or this event before watching this movie series. I think they did a good job of telling the story with all that old footage, this must have taken a lot of work to put together and I think they did a good job of not dragging things out which made for a good watch.
In regards to Mark Hofmann, I find it a bit frustrating that he created those really bizarre lies and tried to hurt an otherwise good Mormon community. His lies were quite out there and I'm not sure, would good, honest, well intentioned people believe those kinds of lies these days? I know there's the conspiracy theorists and Q'Anon believers but those aren't exactly "good" or well intentioned people, at least in my opinion. It's sad that his target was the Mormon community who didn't seem to deserve it although it sounds like his target stemmed from his relationship with the church from his upbringing. I also wonder why he (unsuccessfully) tried to kill himself yet when posed with the death penalty he chose to take a plea deal to avoid the death penalty. He tried to kill himself so I find it interesting that he took an opportunity to live with the lies he told and the people he hurt.
It is intriguing. He fooled a lot of unsuspecting people which I suppose really does happen a lot. He's a wolf in sheep's clothing. There are tells I think with people like this, trust your instinct if someone seems off, your gut is likely right. I think a lot of people were fooled because they just never knew such an evil existed or could possibly exist. Scary what childhood can do to someone. I do wonder if the destructive path a person is on could have been prevented somehow along the way. I wonder if someone or something could have changed the path Mark Hufmann was on or was he just bound to be mischievously evil no matter what?
