Though "Body Snatchers" is inferior to the first two adaptations and the original Jack Finney novel, the atmosphere Director Abel Ferrara creates is suitably chilling given the subject matter and although the male cast`s performances are somewhat lacking at times star Gabrielle Anwar, Meg Tilly,Forrest Whitaker and the late R. Lee Ermey more than make up for it!The film also demonstrates how our cherished American institutions(The Military,public school,family etc.) engage in a somewhat softer version of the dehumanization brought by the Pod People.The pod scream is also tastefully done and not overused as in more recent adaptations and "Body Snatchers" wannabes(I.e. Assimilate).
