Everyone is talking about accents and while, yes, they were super inconsistent and terrible PLEASE someone acknowledge Laura Marano’s incompetent acting. She is always smiling in every situation. Her fake overly positive emotion is the only one she can really show. If you watch the movie, you’ll notice that Izzy never really reciprocated the prince’s feelings the ENTIRE movie. She would catch him staring at her, there would be several moments you can truly see how he’s acting head over heels for her. Please name one scene she expressed genuine interest in him. Something that differentiates a romantic feeling/gesture from a platonic one. I’ll wait. Yes they have banter in some ways and can converse easily in the movie, but there is absolutely no chemistry on her end. You really do not need her explicitly saying “I like you” for her to show she has feelings for him. It should be conveyed by your eyes, your expression, etc. She doesn’t know how to act in drama and romance-point blank. There is absolutely no way the director or whoever told her to act this bad because I’ve watched her other movies and she acts the same exact way in everything she stars in. It’s frustrating to see bad actors on a screen when you can name much better ones for that role.
