I feel like people forget that there is absolutely no way a TV show or movie adaptation will be exactly how the book was and that’s why there’s so many negative reviews. I love The Stand, I have picture perfect images of each character in my head that I wish I could see on screen, listen to them talk, or have hours and hours of a show dedicated to each of their backgrounds. But that’s impossible, so you might as well enjoy the show and their attempt to encapsulate such a special novel. It’s okay to be a dedicated fan but you can’t let that ruin the opportunity to watch an adaptation that holds great potential.
With that, I feel like the producers did a really great job of understanding they can’t be exactly like the book SO they found ways to get creative while still maintaining the important parts. It would have been a complete failure had they tried to fit each piece of the entire book into their show and I seriously appreciate their work.
The only reason I’m leaving off a star is because at times the acting felt a little rigid or stale (and selfishly, because I wish they could have incorporated Nadine’s hair). Overall I enjoyed it and I feel like if you give it a real chance, you will too. Also— loved how Harold was portrayed!!
