I am very saddened by a lot of the reviews I read by Christians. This isn't meant just for Christians, it's meant to reach everyone. They did a good job adapting this from the novel, and if you have not read the novel I would recommend doing so to connect some of the missing components. It is definitely hard to fit everything in. I own and read many of Francine River's novels and she is constantly pursuing the portrayal of complete and real brokeness to restoration in her stories. She wanted the film to help portray that as well, and though there definitely were some missing pieces, it was meant to show how ugly the world can be and where we can get in it. The casting was also very well done. It actually was less vivid than I had prepared for based on what others were saying. Moreover, it is a depiction of how we need our own identity and relationship with God over all else. Only God can restore and take you out of your brokeness and show you how precious you are, and no matter where you've been, YOU are loved beyond your understanding and if you let him, He will take you where you never thought you could go. To redemption and his unfailing love. I am incredibly happy that this movie was made from a much loved Christian novel and I encourage everyone to watch it! There are so many movies out there right now with so many different messages, let this one stand out to you and show you faith, hope, love and the peace that comes after.
