Very very sadly, despite it's respected cast of great British film stars, who have all made many well respected films, this film came across perhaps as very dated. I write "perhaps" in the previous sentence because as 1983 is really not that long ago, I have to wonder if this film was ever quite on the money..... It looks and feels more like something from the 1960s - are these guys and gals off to an episode of New Avengers?
However at the risk of overusing the word "perhaps", perhaps this would have been better as a stage play, and also perhaps I am wrong to mention that it is perhaps dated as if that is the main fault that I find in this film. To come to the point - the film is boring. And also trite, pretentious, long winded (even though it is barely 90 minutes long) frankly unbelievable, oh and dated! Perhaps. Obviously I am not recommending that you waste time watching this turkey, but if you have already watched all your paint dry then I suggest not missing Michael Caine doing a voiceover for another actor early on the film, and later on giving us a hackneyed Russian accent and later still, a slightly more plausible American accent.
