Brilliant visual effects not an effective enough pea and thimble trick to offset incredulous plot line, scattergun story development and endless recycling of hackneyed old tropes. Careless inconsistencies with original lore will again annoy long-time fans. This feels like an Avengers film: visually stunning, but frustratingly formulaic and a bit dumb.
