I was a newby to this show in August 2025. Just wanted to watch something different and get away from the mostly nonsense available on streaming streaming channels. First two stories last two or three episodes and they were great, very good acting and a somewhat believable story line. One has to put into context where the show is held, which is quite a remote beautiful island off the north coast of Scotland, with a very small population. Then i think it was story three that took up an entire series, which i binge watched. It got so convoluted it was hard to remember where and how it started. Story 4, again an entire series and it just got ridiculous. Bizarrely close to home issues for the lead detective, unrealistic police actions (or non-actions mostly) and questionable plot lines. The stories, or investigations, go all over the place with some many names involved it is difficult to remember who is who so you lose the plot and me (the audience) in the process. Still, the acting was great and the location and scenery mostly made up for so many indescretions. I decided to have one more go with story 5, which was probably another entire series, and did not make it to the end before deciding to quit because it just got too far fetched, too predictable. Peripheral characters in this show always ended up being the guilty party even though they did not appear to be capable of doing the dirty deed. One former cop, portrayed as being as flawed but somewhat decent guy, apparently murdered his own daughter over something that seemed quite trivial. Who does that, how are viewers supposed to take that in? Even though lead detective DI Perez was suitably horrified it still made NO sense at all to me. The show just became too convoluted, too depressing and totally unrealistic.

Well, it started out rather far fetched, then got convincing better in the middle, then finished with a crescendo of horrible and ridiculous violence. Did you really need to try and humanize this ruthless killer for hire then show him kill two lovely elderly people who were on a nice camping holiday in Spain. The lovely old lady however was capable of stabbing our killer forcefully in the back with a rather large knife only for him to nonciently remove the knife and carry on like nothing at all had happened and shoot the old lady. Is that what audiences go for these days. Plenty of 5 star reviews. Sad... I watched all 10 episodes so they succeeded in that but in the end wish I had not....just bad, bad, bad

I have to agree with a lot of other reviewers that Reptile simply fails to deliver. It kept my attention mostly because of Del Torro's acting which was fascinating to watch. But too many items the plot drew your attention too were left going agonizingly nowhere. Why was the subject murder so brutal, Make no mistake, this film is at its core a murder investigation (that eventually goes sideways) with no one actually pinned for the murder itself. Uh hello!! Why so many sidetracks? - the home repairs, the motion activated faucet, the non affair of the builder and the leads wife, the nightmare, the suspect with a limp, the bite marks, the odd paint, the church and pastor....I could on and on. And what happened to the poor sap who seemed to know everything that was actually going on? Too much left for the imagination. Maybe that was intended but it was just toooo much. I eventually felt like I had wasted over 2 hours of my time that will never be recouped.....

This is a great show and it seems to me it is closer to reality than other similar programs. I can see where a lot of people think it is good theater, good propaganda for the Israeli side but on the contrary it portrays both as equally bad. From an outsiders perspective, the Israelis always try to take the high moral ground, just as they do in Fauda. In reality they are equally as bad as the Arab / Palestinian side just as the show portrays. To me, Fauda highlights the follies of such tit for tat fighting and terrorism, and the toll it takes on the families for all concerned. It never ends.

My wife is from Sicily, usually relishes these kind of luvvy dubby movies and the whole Italian thing. We got half way through and she said I've had enough and I gladly shut it down. The whole premise that the chef is an immigrant from Sicily is a none starter. Sicily is a part of Italy; maybe a lot of Sicilians move to the "mainland" in search of better paid work, a better life or just to blindly escape the Mafia in Sicily or whatever their story but they are NOT immigrants. And then there is the whole premise that the main female character moves to Florence from LA and immediately lands in a bucket of roses, chased down by amazing, wealthy suitors before she finds her poor "immigrant" chef. Totally unrealistic. I am sure it was well acted, had great scenery etc. etc. Both sets of parents were total stereotypes and completely insufferable. Maybe the book is better and lacks the Hollywood drivel factor. I see the vast majority of people liked the show but for me it's hard to like something you know is fundamentally untrue and unfairly stereo type casts people. Crying your eyes out through a whole show does not make it 5 star good. Obviously it does to some.

Most of the comments on here are better than the movie itself. Very creative. I particularly enjoyed the one that advised to play this movie to get rid of unwanted house guests. Brilliant! It definitely is a strange film. The trailer did not portray the film properly at all, just as most of them don't. Idiotic college professors teaching about the real message from car crashes in movies or a bunch of students getting excited from learning about Hitler and nazism. Pretty bizarre. Could be called clever. Funny even. But just too strange for me to wrap my head around. Maybe one needs to have ones head in an altered state to enjoy. I get that it's supposed to be thought provoking. Clever script, acting and tempo yet in the end left feeling like what the F.... what that all about. Really?

I got through the first two episodes and while it is quite funny in a cute sort of way I realized I had no idea what the story line was. Characters popped in and out and left me thinking huh? What was that, what were they doing, how were they connected to anything. Besides being totally unrealistic, time zone crunching and a really, really ridiculous plot, this show is mind-numbing kind is stupid. Seems like a lot of people liked it but I can't, for the life of me, figure our why? I'll try watching it again......

I found this show to be a must see every night (binge) full of great characters played by great actors, a show with entertaining and interesting story lines everywhere. Just completed series 1 to find out there are 5 more which was very exciting.

Found this show to be very good. Good story line, good acting, excellent cinematography. A little slow but a great watch. Interesting football history not many people know about.
