This is bad. So bad. Like embarrassingly bad. Craig looks tired and half hearted.
Look some Bond movies of course are better than others. But this takes it to a new level of bad.
I have never left one Bond (except Daltons), until No Time to Die, thinking I wouldn’t even buy it on iTunes.
When I read the 5 star reviews all I can think of is: geez some people are easily pleased and really have no idea of a good Bond. They must be 14 years old teens.
There’s some good scenes: chases and fights, even the initial Maddy/Bond set up background and their stay in the hotel etc. The rest (at least half) is a padding of cheesy smolzy romance chick flick material - yes half - that’s not Bond. That’s trying to attract an audience that’s never going to be interested in Bond. And the last 10 minutes where the bad guy just gets shot and dies (this is a guy that can kill with a chemical weapon but walks around in a Japanese dressing gown); then the long drawn out passionate scenes between Maddy & Bond like Steel Magnolias reborn; was so laughable I actually wondered if I was in a Bond.
Sorry - I think this actually has the potential to kill the franchise.
This was less Bond and more When Harry met Sally (showing my age). And the new 007 - about as threatening as a feather and with as little screen presence. I feel more threatened by my mother.
The 3 stars of the show; Bloefeld; Felix and that Cuban female CIA agent (she was really good) have little air time and disappear quickly in favour of the nothing really to do and bland (in this movie) bored Moneypenny, Q and the now alcho Mallory putting in lacklustre performances to collect a pay cheque .
Believe me: Bond based on this movie has lost its way and was lacklustre. Even the very last scene made me laugh in its attempt to please all (and I will point out in gay) - a mobility challenged male, 2 blacks and a gay. Sorry hilarious.
Oh and the romantic duo scenes and the ‘Bond’ baby - oh dear.
