Too self-aware to be taken seriously, this tragic and ultimately unnecessary continuation of a beloved trilogy gets lost in convoluted attempts to justify its existence, while the decidedly generic audio-visual presentation sucked away even the faintest glimmers of magic that would have made fans of the uniquely stylised original series overlook such unforgivable narrative flaws.

Predictable, unbearably cheesy and awkward, this film doesn't seem able to tick any boxes that good cinema should.
