Too much drama more than fun. This film is darker than the first Mary Poppins film. I was half way through the film and stopped watching it. It doesn't have the same child-like, innocence and softness as the first Mary Poppins film.
Have they ran out of Cockney-speaking English actors? The man portraying Jack didn't look at all English and didn't sound at all Cockney. Not the best singing voice, with all due respect. High pitched.
Too much bickering in the film. A lot of quick and nervous chatter- why? Why not speak with softness and kindness? Why a fast-paced and nervous manner of speech and behaviour?
Emily Blunt is a brilliant actress but didn't portray Mary Poppins with the same level of love as Julie Andrews did.
Wish there were more soft and gentle scenes like the first Mary Poppins. The scenes regarding the ceramic bowl and the theatre was fantastic. I found myself skipping to the fun parts, as I had enough of the tense, nervous and dramatic parts.
There are historically inaccurate information mixed into the film, which isn't necessary and it looks ridiculous and it causes confusion. Why mix that into a film that is supposed to be accurately depicting historically accurate people, clothes, locations, etc.?
Overall, just skip to the fun parts if you see any.
Thank-you kindly.
