Dreadful remake or should I say rehash? The tough work was done by HG Wells, copying a good story should’ve been easy. What was the BBC thinking, does it really believe this is worthy of three hours prime-time viewing?
If todays remakes can’t be better than previous productions then why bother, is it just to fill airtime? And, on that note, what was the point of the second episode, what did we learn to enthuse and prepare us for a grand finale?
The so-called special effects are woefully inadequate, the image of London Bridge, the fuzzy alien tripods, buildings which look like they’ve been hit by conventional artillery leaving rubble and burning timbers cluttering up the streets and yet people are miraculously vaporised, much tidier!
Please, please, please end this with episode three, do not hint at a return series, don’t waste our money on second rate CGI, second rate scripting, it’s just not good enough.
