I will say that unlike a lot of people leaving reviews, I only previously and a passing familiarity with the games/books. However, going in blind, this show definitely exceeded expectations. Great casting and performances, high production value, and characters and setting that make you want to just keep watching one after another. Also yet another example of "professional" critical reviews being completely at odds with audience reviews to the point where they might as well be ignored. Critics seem to want every new fantasy series released to be the next GoT, and be able to say as much in their reviews. For one thing you can't make any really valid comparison between a completed 8 season series and the first season of anything, no matter how good or bad. For another, there's no reason to, it should be judged on its own merits. This is clearly a good show on its own merits, look at audience reviews instead, or just watch it. I hope it ends up catching on and being renewed for several seasons so this world can be fully explored.
